Tempered Carrot ( Carrot thel dala)


This is an easy to make, mouth-watering and a colourful recipe.



  • 4 medium size carrots – cut into small pieces
  • 3 small green chilli – chopped
  • One medium size onion – sliced
  • curry leaves
  • 1/4 chilli powder
  • ½ red chilli flakes
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 table spoons of vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste



Pour oil in to the pan and heat it under medium heat. First, add curry leaves to the pan. Once the curry leaves are fried, add the cinnamon stick and continue stir-frying. Then, add the onions and stir-fry until all turn to light golden brown.


After, introduce carrot and once they are partially cooked add green chilli pieces, red chilli flakes, red chilli powder and salt.


Now, cover the pan with a lid. Carrot pieces should cook with the steam. Open the lid and stir it in each minute for 3 to 4 minutes.
