Long Beans Curry

Long beans aren’t something we see every day in the supermarket here. My husband actually had to drive few kilometres more to get these, so I made a delicious curry out of it as soon as I could. Here is the recipe.

  • 200 g long beans
  • ½ medium size onion
  • Half a tomato
  • 2 cloves of garlic (If your garlics are small, add 3 cloves)
  • 1 green chilli
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 pieces of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp of raw curry powder
  • ¼ tsp of turmeric
  • ¼ tsp of red chilli powder
  • 1 ½ cup of coconut milk
  • Salt to taste

  • Cut the long beans in to 1 inch size pieces
  • Cut the tomato in to small cubes
  • Chop the green chilli, finely
  • Cut the onion in to fine pieces

Add all the ingredients together and cover the cooking pot with a lid. Now, start cooking under medium heat level for about 10 minutes. Then, take out a long bean piece to check if it is well cooked. Try not to overcook it as you might lose some good nutrients of this vegetable.
