Sri Lankan Hot Fish Curry Recipe (Malu Mirisata or Miris Maalu) මාලු මිරිසට

Today, I am sharing an easy to do  Sri Lankan fish curry recipe with you. Usually, Sri Lankan curry recipes have curry powders, coconut milk and few other spices as ingredients. But don’t worry, for this recipe,  you only need few simple ingredients. There are no coconut milk or curry powders in the ingredients list for this recipe.

This dish is goes very well with steamed white rice or steamed red rice.


800g – 1kg of Fish (Any kind of fish) – cut in to cubes or slices

25g of Bridle berry – make a paste

3 cloves of garlic- finely chopped

2 tbsp of red chili powder

2 tbsp of black pepper powder

3-4 green chilies

Some curry leaves

Salt to taste

2 ½ to 3 cups of water

How to make Miris Maalu (Hot and spicy fish curry)

Combine all in a cooking pot and cook for about 25 minutes under low heat. IMG_7789 edited

Now, adjust salt to your taste and enjoy.
