Spicy Baked Chicken- Sri Lankan Style බේක් කල කුකුල් මස්


I kept thinking about a special name that I can give to this dish as this is a recipe I created, but I came up with the easiest name you can think of. Oh well, sometimes the name should simply state how the dish tastes like. This is a simple baked chicken recipe you can make with simple ingredients that you can find in your kitchen, mostly if you are a person who cooks regularly. I make this baked chicken at least once a week. My husband loves this dish and praises it a lot. So, I thought of sharing it with you all.




  • 1 kg chicken thighs (skinless)
  • 1 tsp of Sri Lankan raw curry powder
  • 1 tsp of red chilli powder ( you can reduce this as you please )
  • ½ tsp of cumin powder
  • ½ tsp of coriander powder
  • ¼ black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Some cooking oil


In a bowl, put all the spices and salt together and mix well.


In a large bowl, rub the mixed spices on chicken thighs. Do it for one minute. You want all the spices well coated on the chicken thighs. Then, cover that bowl and leave it aside for 30 minutes. By now, chicken thighs must have absorbed all the spices. Preheat the oven for 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, bake the chicken thighs for 40 minutes. Once they are fully baked, on a separate pan, fry them for about one minute each on medium heat. Remember that chicken thighs are already cooked, so don’t over fry them.
